It is the people who handle the registration and hand out the numbers and t-shirts at packet pick-up.
It is the people who get up long before the dawn to set-up the race site so you have an enjoyable experience.
It is the people who take your gear and keep an eye on it while you are running.
It is the people staffing the aid stations, handing out water and Nuun as you pass by, cheering you on with encouragement.
It is the people serving as race marshals along the course, making sure you are going in the right direction and keeping you safe during your run.
It is the people at the finish line, draping the medals around your neck, congratulating you on an effort well done, and handing out post-race refreshments to refuel your body.
It is the people who break down the race site long after you have gone home, happy with YOUR effort.
Those people are volunteers and a race cannot happen without them.
